My Future Career

My future career. I always ask myself, what am I going to be like in the future. Well I’ve always wanted to be a rugby league star. I live for rugby league. I watch it all the time. I just love it.

If I do make it into the business, I’d be really happy. I would go to the first team that wants me. But if I had a choice, I would go to the NZ Vodafone Warriors because I would like to represent my country and heritage. I would also like to represent the NZ_Kiwis in international league.

Thats what I want to be in the future.

Netbook Reflection 2013

I love my netbook. Do you? Since last year, I’ve had my netbook and I love it to bits. It is so cool. I’ve had a few problems but most of the time its been sweet.

How did my year go with my netbook? The year has been great. Only one internet problem, and 1 reimaging. Apart from those two things, the year has been exceptional. My netbook has been working fine.

How was the internet connection (wireless) like compared to last year? For me it was faster. I could get around studyladder and maths whizz faster. It was loading faster and did have any virus like last year.

Will I ever go back to pen and paper? Well..... NOOOO!!!!! I will never ever go back to pen and paper. I’m going to leave it at that.

My Poems

Aotearoa, Aotearoa, what do you think of the place Aotearoa?
This is what I think.
Aotearoa the place I was raised in. I love this place to bits. From Rotorua to Auckland. Loving friends, Loving teachers, but most important, Loving family. Having fun, hanging out with friends is all apart of life. But living life is the main thing.

Aotearoa, the place of many schools. I came from Western Heights Primary from down in Rotorua, all the way to Point England School. Best school in the world. Great students, great principals, but mainly great teachers. The school of many kids from near and far. Every person in the school represents their culture and are different in many ways. That's what a great school needs.

Aotearoa, the place I love to be. If I had some words to say, I'd say Theres no place I'd rather be.

Poem 2:
This poem I wrote at the museum with the help of Mrs Squires. Here it is.
Where I'm from I  taste pork bones lingering on my tongue.
Where I'm from I smell sulphur from the hotpools like my brother after a rugby league game.
Where I'm from I hear birds chirping as noisy as my mother.
Where I'm from I see constructional works just like my dad building a house.
Where I'm from I feel like a bird in a nest. Finally I'm Home.

Athletics

“YEAH!” I cheered. Finally athletics. The day I could show off all my skills. Last week on Thursday we had our athletics day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in a good condition. My knee was bunged up. So I couldn’t compete that well. But I tried my best. I was going to represent my Takitimu team (Yellow) well.

The sport I was looking forward to was high jump. It was my best sport. I really enjoyed it because I wanted to test my jumping skills. I missed my first jump, so I gave it my all on the second try. Even though I landed on my head, I still made it. I couldn’t believe it. After the jump, the bar went up 15cms. It was so hard. Only two boys out of 25 made it. I got out. But at least I had fun.

The other sport I was looking forward to was discus. Discus was a fun sport enjoyed by all my family. This was my second favorite sport. Because it’s not about strength, it’s about technique. I threw the discus. Currently I was in 2nd place. But a big boy, Tana, threw it far and I was 3rd place. I knew I was going to get knocked out because my friend Darius was up next. He threw the discus and it just went more far than mine. I almost placed but I didn’t.

Every year I try my best, but this year I couldn’t compete at my best but I still had fun. I can’t wait for next year.

The Dangerous Bush

Once upon a time there were two explorers. One named Stacy and the other one was Paul. They had been living on an island for years and years. It was a beautiful island with heaps of rare creatures. They decided to go for a walk deep in the bushes. This was their biggest challenge ever.

Stacy and Paul had been hiking for thirty minutes now. Then Stacy said “Paul? Where are we?” Paul had no response. Paul knew they were lost but didn’t want to say a word. So they continued their journey. Stacy started to feel scared but Paul was a brave as a fox. Stacy and Paul headed forward. They were in for a big surprise.

The two hikers had been walking for one hour and ten minutes. They started to get tired. Suddenly............ Out of nowhere a monkey jumped out at them they ran backwards. After they had been running, they drank some water. But Paul drunk heaps and he ran out of water. After that tragedy, they continued on their journey.

“We’ve been walking for two hours now Stacy” said Paul. “I know Paul” Stacy responded. They stopped to have another drink. Once again, they ran out of water. “We’re out of water!” screamed Stacy. “What are we going to do?” “I’ll tell you what we’re going to do.” said Paul. “We are going to keep going.” So they headed forward.

After five hours of walking, they reached their cottage. Both parched, they drank heaps and heaps of water. After that adventure, they knew not to go too far away from home. So they chose to give up hiking and be geography teachers and teach kids about all their adventures and the beautiful landscape of Earth. They lived happily ever after.

Our Semi-Final

“WHOA!” I think to myself as we head into the Semi Finals. “Kedgley is a big school with Massive boys.” In our rugby season, we are versing Kedgley Intermediate for the Semi Finals. The winner of this game advances into the Grand Final at Eden Park. We knew this wouldn’t be easy.

“There goes the whistle!” Mr Marks yells to the team. We were kicking off first. Our captain Lepa kicked it straight to a man called Dakotah. He plays for Mangere East in rugby league. Through out this half, there were hard tackles and line breaking runs. Finally, We went over the line with Tui. All the forwards had pushed him over the line and we scored. "YEAH" the crowd roared. But Kedgley Scroed straight after that. Going into half time, it was 7 points to 5.

"Yes" I said to myself. The reason why I said yes was because Kedgley were kicking off to us. But unfortunatly, they scroed first. Dakotah kicked it over for an extra 2 points. We quickly kicked off to them and with all the pressure on them, they knocked the ball on. After that, Samuela caught the ball from an intercept. He ran 20 metres. 10 meters out, we charged over the line to score again. Lepa missed the kick which made it to 12-10.  At the end of the game we lost 26-15.

We have had fun this season. We gave our fans 3 cheers and we gave our coaches 3 cheers. It was so emotional but a cool experiance. I can't wait for next year.

What If I Was Blind??

What if I was blind? How could I live? It would be a hard life. I would be as blind as a bat. There are some ups and downs to being blind and here they are.

YEAH! These are the ups about being blind. It is easier to make it into the paralympics. Instead of versing people that are in good conditions, vs people that are blind or something like me. You could have someone that gets your food and stuff for you. Another up about being blind is that you can wear mean as glasses.

Then there's some downers. Obviously you can’t see anything, having to walk around with a stick, you won’t be able to play video games and you can’t play rugby. To me, it would be like torture as hot as fire. It wouldn't be a good life for me.

What I’m saying is that it wouldn’t be cool being blind. I couldn’t live with myself if I was blind. But if you are blind, that’s how life is.

What If I Was A Billionaire?

What if I was a billionaire?
A billion dollars.......... What could I buy with that much money. I would be as rich as Donald Trump. I think to myself, what if I was a billionaire?

I would have a mansion, and a massive pool if I was that rich. Heaps of cars like a ferrari. I would also donate money towards the cancer society. But if If was that rich, people should put my face on the coins. Thats when everyone would know the name of Gabriel Inia.

Having this much money..... I would be so happy. I would hire security and live a good life. Doing anything I want, have anything I want. I WOULD BE INVINCIBLE!! Thats what I’d do if I was a billionaire.

What If I Had Super Powers?

What if I had superpowers? It would be SO COOL! I would be invincible. Be a superhero and be famous for saving the city. Everyone would love me. But I think to myself. What would I do with those superpowers. That’s what I wonder. But It would be so cool.

My main superpowers would be invisible and flying. I would be called the invisible bee. Sting like a bee and as stealthy as a cat. Thats what I’d do if I had superpowers.

Saving the world would be a dream for me. I would love to do it any day any time. Being the boss of the city. I wouldn't be the villain because I love people so I won't kill them. That's all I dream about. I know this won't be possible to have super powers but I would love to have them.

Our Mini-Olympics

YEAH!! Once I heard we were having a Mini-Olympics, I was so EXCITED! I couldn’t wait for it. Team 4 and 5 gathered together in the hall to get ready for the Mini-Olympics. Our teams were told what our rotations were and went on our way.

I was in Taki 1 and we were up against Tainui 2. Our first activity was running relays with Mr Burt. The first relay we did was tennis ball hop. We had to put the tennis ball between our legs while hopping to a bucket where we drop it into. Unfortunately, we lost. The next relay we did was with a hula-hoop. We had to swing it around our arm while walking to the red line. “YEAH!” I cheered as we won that relay. The final thing we did was tennis ball shoot. We had to shoot the tennis ball into the bucket. Two rounds we competed in. My team lost the first round but won the second.

After those relays I was feeling great. Taki 1 then headed towards the library to see what Mrs Flavelle had in store for us. When we entered, I saw icing sugar and felt tips. I knew this would be interesting. Mrs Flavelle made us choose between a shell of                      a`biscuit. We had to decorate them with one of the two ingredients. I chose felt tips. Our theme was the Olympics. I drew the New Zealand flag. It wasn't great, but it was still good. This activity was cool, but not one of my favorites.

After that cool activity with Mrs Flavelle, I was calm and relaxed. Then I found out we had to jump jam. “OHH NOO!” I said to myself. We had to go to room 17 to do jump jam with Miss Muliaumaseali’i (Miss M). Our dance that we were doing was called ‘Pump It’. Miss M gave both teams 50 points. You could earn more  from dancing really well, or you could lose some for sitting down. We earned some because we performed it two times. It was so cool. At the end of the session, I was so puffed out. Thankfully we headed to the hall to watch PENN.

I really enjoyed this morning because its better than writing and reading. Also, I got to hang out with my mates. It was a fun morning and I hope we could do it again.

My Cross Country Experience

“YEAH”! The day had finally come. That day was CROSS COUNTRY....... This is the day I’ve been waiting for. The day to put all my practice to good use. I wanted to push myself because I was determined to win!

“Can all 11 year old boys and girls please come to the starting point” Mr Jacobsen said. We all waited anxiously for Mr Burt’s signal. “BANG!” There we were. Fast as lightning from the starting point we all rushed off in a flash. I was at the back of the pack trying to conserve my energy with Lorenzo.

Very quickly, we reached the first kilometer (KM) down by the reserve. The field conditions were mucky and muddy. The mud was knee high on me. Going at 20%, I picked up the pace and went 40%. Even though I was trying to conserve my energy, I was so puffed out. That was only 1km into the race. I didn’t know if I could make it the rest of the way.

“Come on Gabriel” said Mr Somerville. “You can do it.” Pumping my legs I picked up the pace to 60%. “Upwards and onwards” I say to myself. Running on the gravel I think to myself “lucky I wore shoes or my feet would’ve been aching.” Coming up to the bushwalk, I’m proud of myself for making it that far.

Pushing myself even harder, I came towards the final km near the end. I was currently in 6th place. The boy in front of me was about  20 metres away. I picked up the pace to 80%. Two minutes later, I was neck and neck with him. Finally I passed him because he slowed down. However, I knew I couldn’t beat the person in front of me because he was over 50 metres away. So I just started to go a bit faster at 90%. Fifth was a good position to be in.

Giving it my all at 110%, I sprinted towards the finish line. Mud splashing everywhere, I was so proud of myself. Finally making it to the finish line, I fell to the ground with a THUMP! All covered in mud, I walked towards the drinking fountain to have a massive drink of water. It felt like I had drunk one litre.

At the end of the day, I was so proud of myself for coming 5th. I represented myself, my family and I did really well. This experience will help me get fit for the future when I become a rugby league player.

Usain Bolt Sprinting Legend

Is it a jet? Is it a plane? No it’s Usain Bolt. The Jamaican born is the fastest man IN THE WORLD on the track and field. He has returned to defend his WR (World Record) title. All have turned up to try and beat him but no one can succeed. HE IS THE SPRINTING LEGEND!!!
Warming up for the race, Usain Bolt stretches, slaps his thighs to wake them up and jumped up and down. All this comes to use when he wins the races. Also with a lot of practice he has a lot of speed and agility. Those are all good warm ups for Usain Bolt.

Coming up to the race, Usain Bolt focuses on the finish line. Striving to succeed he bolted past everyone at the start. Keeping up with the lead, he goes onward and upward to the finish line. With only 50 meters to go he puts on the afterburners to get a new WORLD RECORD!

“A NEW W. A NEW WR!” The commentators shout. “USAIN BOLT HAS A NEW WR,” as he finishes his race. Topping his world record, Usain Bolt  does a final victory lap with the Jamaican flag.

The Olympic Message

“The most important thing about the Olympics is not to win, but to participate........ just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle”. These were the words of the founder of the Modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

What does the Olympic message mean? It means you sacrifice everything just to compete in the Olympics, and when you struggle, you learn from your mistakes and it makes you stronger.

So who created the Olympic message? Well the man who created it  was the man who created the Olympic message was Baron Pierre de Coubertin.  The message has appeared at all the Modern Olympics on a scoreboard in the opening ceremony.
What does the Olympic message mean to me? To me, it means that it’s not about the Olympics, it about you representing yourself, your family and your friends. It is also about sacrifice. You sacrifice everything just to compete. That's what the Olympic message means to me.

The word triumph means winner, success, fame, fortune and money. The word struggle means training, determined, time, strict diet, and yourself.

London Olympics 2012

London is where the Olympics are being held for 2012. We watched a great video about the upcoming London Olympics. This year, there could be a return from famous athletes such as Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt, to defend their titles.

New sparkling venues are very important for the athletes because without venues they can’t compete. So here are some venues for the 2012 Olympics. Wimbledon for the Tennis. City Central for the bike racing and running.

According to legend, the Olympics were created to honour the god of Olympia....... Zeus. The first olympics were held in Greece. Back then, they didn’t get medals for winning, they received an olive branch.

Ever since the previous Olympics in London (1908 and 1948), I know this year, the Olympics are going to be very close in the events and it will come down to nail biting finishes. The events I am looking forward to are Diving, Javelin, Track and Field and High Jump.

I am really looking forward to Michael Phelps’ return. From USA and only 27 years old, he is a 16 time Olympic medal holder. He is the best swimmer I know. The person I’m looking forward to in the track and field events is Usain Bolt. HE IS THE FASTEST MAN IN THE WORLD!  The lady that I’m looking forward to is the great shot put queen, Valerie Vili. She is the best Shot-putter IN THE WORLD!!!

Brown Brother

In my reading task for this week, I heard a speech called Brown Brother presented by Joshua Iosefo. He really inspired me from that speech.  Because he told everyone that it doesn't matter if your brown, black, white or tan, because we are all a family when it comes to living our life. Thats why he is a prefect at his school. Click on this link to go to the speech.

My Special Place.

My special place is in my room. I love it in my room because I can just stay in there to play on my Nintendo Wii and play my PS2. I can also hang out with my friends and relax on my mattress. My room is the main part of the house for me. I eat in there, I play in there, but I don’t sleep in there. I sleep in my lounge.
I don’t have my own room. I have to share it with my brother. My sister moved out of the house, so I might get her old room.

I decided to paint in the style of Henri Matisse because he likes to use a lot of bright colours in his artwork.

Term 2 Reflection

Term 2, the term of Art Alive. It has been one of the best term so far from 2012. I just loved learning about all the artists like Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Daniella Hulme, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Charles Frederick Goldie. The two main people my class learnt about was Matisse and Van Gogh. Henry Matisse’s style of art is Fauvism. In French it means ‘Wild Beast’. Van Gogh uses impressionist.

Also in term 2, some of the people in the school including me, performed in Point England Performing Arts. Or as I call it, PEPA. I was in the opening performance. How Maui hooked in the earth and we done a haka to follow up. We performed to the school (Years 1-6) at 2.00. Then we performed to the parents at night time. That was the best performance.

Another highlight of the term was our art gallery. The hall was filled with art from years 1-8. They were out standing. All of the artists work was there. Matisse, Van Gogh, Monet, Hulme and Picasso along with Goldie. Only my Goldie artwork from extension was there. Not my class one. I was supposed to do my room but I didn’t take a picture of it. So I didn’t put it  up.

The last highlight of the term was our immersion rotation. That's when had to go to different classes. The first class we went to was our class. We stayed in Room 21 and learnt about Henri Matisse. The following day we went to Room 22 with Mrs Nua to learn about Vincent Van Gogh. The next day, we went to Mr Barks Class to learn the style of Pablo Picasso. His was my best artist. On Friday we went to Mr Slade to learn the style of Claude Monet. Next week on Monday, we went to Mrs Squires for the last day. We learnt about Daniella Hulme. That was a cool rotation.

Term 2 was a mean term of Art Alive. learning about Artists and their styles. I just can wait for Term 3. MEAN MAORI MEAN!!

Hid and Go Seek Part 2

Hide and Seek Part 2:
Previously on Hide and Seek. Patrick had been trying to find Spongebob and Sandy. Spongebob and Sandy had found a castle and decided to hide in there. What happens next? Tune in to find out.

“Spongebob? Sandy?” Patrick yelled. Patrick didn’t hear any response so he went on a tiki tour. They had been walking around and around in circles. So Patrick chose to stay at the door and have a rest. Luckily, he found Spongebob and Sandy. When they were all united, they heard a sound. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! They all waited in silence. When they thought the sound had cleared, they headed for a room. Once they got into the room, they hid in a closet. The three friends couldn’t hide forever so they took a peek out of the closet. When they peeked out of the door, they saw A HUGE KRAB.
They saw him eating a big patty. He called it the Krabby Patty. He was eating away. Suddenly, the three took off and headed for the door. To be continued........

Hid and Go Seek Narrative Part 1

Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl named Spongbob and Sandy. The were playing hide and go seek. They were running away from Patrick. They ran through a field of corn and found a big castle. They decided to hide in there and wait for Patrick to come. They had been waiting for over half a hour now so they peeked out the door too see who was there. No-one was there so then they decided to go for a Tiki Tour around the house. While they were peeking they heard a sound at the door. It was Patrick. He had finally found them but they had gone for a walk around. So suddenly, the game turned into tiggy. I wonder if Patrick would find the two. To be continued............

AFL

Wow!!!! AFL. I can’t believe we have AFL coaching every week. I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!! I love AFL. Other people call it Kiwi Kick. I just call it AFL. I watch it on tv whenever I can if my brother not watching anything. My favourite players are Israel Folau and Karmichael Hunt.

Even though we learnt the drop-punt, we learnt it again to get more accuracy in the kick. I tried it and guess what, I failed. But then, the mentor came over to me and told me the new skill, and then I got it right. After everyone got it right, we split into teams and played a little game called bomb the teachers. We had to try and kick the ball at the teacher and bombard them with the balls. If we hit the teacher then we got 2 points, if we got the netball pole, we got three points. If we got it into the hoop, we got five points. My team won 7 points to 5. It was a cool game.

Just like the drop-punt, we learnt another skill but just to get it perfect. This skill was the hand pass. I already knew how to do it good so I just helped everyone else. The game that we played after that was hand ball octopus. To get people out, you had to hand pass the ball to them and touch them. For the first round, the mentors were in. I was so lucky, I won the round. The next round, everyone was going for me. Finally I got out. When I got out, I got everyone else out. Then we finished.

The next skill we perfected was to catch highballs and do the right technique. The best catch is the chest catch. You put your hands in front of you then you pull the ball into your chest. That’s the best catch you can do. After that catch, we learnt the speci. You run and jump on someones back to catch the ball. The game that we played was Over The River. The point of the game is to kick the ball and make other people drop the ball. But you have to catch it before you kick it.

I really like Kiwi Kick because you can do many things in the sport. My favourite thing is a speci. I hope next year we can have more and more game time. If I play AFL, I want to be like Israel Folau.

Taonga Time With Mr Harris

Ever since when I was a year 6, I wanted to have Taonga time. Taonga time is when the intermediate block has a rotation and goes to different classes. But when I heard I was in a class that I didn’t want to be in I took it all back. In Taonga time, I heard I was in Room 19 with Mr Harris. I didn’t know what was in store for us, but it was pretty interesting, because we learnt about the climate. The climate is about our weather. Our weather comes from the atmosphere.

In our first time with Mr Harris, we learnt about a word called ‘Precipitation’. Precipitation is when the weather is formed. It starts from the sea and the sun dries the water which makes it water vapour. The water vapour the forms clouds. Those clouds then let out rain which goes into rivers and then lead into the sea. That is Precipitation.

I couldn’t wait for Taonga Time with Mr Harris. The first time was way cool so I wanted to go again every day. That week we had to pick a word to research about a word out of Precipitation, Tropical, Climate, Tropical Climate, and many more. I decided to pick tropical because I like the word tropical because it goes with anything. Tropical fruit, tropical island, tropical and where. Tropical is my word.

The last week we went there, Mr Harris set us a task to make a presentation using all the words we have learnt about the atmosphere. We could get into groups of 3, 2 or we could work by yourself.  I decided to work with my buddy Tokorima. We have a great plan of how to do our presentation.

At the start of the year, I thought Taonga time would be dumb but now I really like it. So it’s just like people say, ‘Don’t Judge A Book On It’s Cover’ so don’t judge a class by it’s teacher.

Comparing and Contrasting Daniella Hulme and Pablo Picasso

This week, we are learning to compare and contrast artists. Last week we learnt about Henri Matisse and Vincent Van Gogh. This week we are comparing Pablo Picasso and Daniella Hulme. Picasso’s style of art is Cubism and Daniella’s is Contemporary. The paintings we have to compare are ‘The Weeping Women’ and ‘A Lazy Day In Paradise’.

Pablo Picasso had a weird style of art, Cubism. Especially when he painting ‘The Weeping Women’. Cubism is a style of art where he paints one thing from one angle and then from another. Picasso uses his style in every piece of art he paints. He is the weirdest and best artist to me, but in ‘The Weeping Women’, he made me feel sad, scared and ugly. I think Picasso felt sad when he painted The Weeping Women because it had dull and sad colours. He is so weird.

In her painting called ‘A Lazy Day In Paradise’, Daniella Hulme used her great style of art. Contemporary. She painted with tropical colours and with happy feelings. The reason why she paints with tropical colours is because she is married to a Samoan man.  ‘A Lazy Day In Paradise’ to me looks like all paintings Daniella Hulme does. She paints the same ladies hair and face. Some of her paintings are about her life. She is a happy artist all the time.

Picasso and Hulme are two very different artists. Picasso is sometimes sad and Hulme is always happy. So Picasso’s paintings are sad and Hulme’s are happy. Not just that, they both do different patterns and colours. Some tropical and some sad colours.

If I had to choose out of these two fabulous artists, I wouldn’t know who to choose. Picasso uses sad colours, and Hulme uses happy colours. I like Picasso way better because he paints from different perspectives. I like that. So I would have to choose Pablo Picasso. But I like Hulme as well.

Comparing and Contrasting Between Henri Matisse and Vincent Van Gogh

In room 21's writing session this week, we had to compare and contrast Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse's style of art for our task. They are two very different artists. Matisse’s style of art was Fauvism (in French it means Wild Beast). Vincent Van Gogh’s style of art was Expressionism.

In his sunflower painting, Van Gogh used dull colours for his flowers and a dull yellow for his background. The reason why I think he used dull colours was because at the time he was painting the sunflower, he was feeling angry and sad. But that's what I think. He painted his paintings the same way he feels. Thats why his style of art is Expressionism. Van Gogh had a weird style of art.

Henri Matisse painted a painting called 'La Musique'. Matisse used heaps of colours including red, blue, black, yellow, mainly green though. Matisse used heaps of detail like a artist should. He painted two ladies. One with a lady with a guitar and the other just relaxing. But to my point of view, it really looks like two people in a tropical place under a palm trees on a red beach. In the background to my point of view, he painted lighting in the red seat, but that's me. Matisse is an interesting artist.

Henri Matisse is a very different artist compared to Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh had a rather sad life, that’s why he painted sad paintings like 'Sunflowers'. Matisse painted colourful paintings with bright colours like the painting La Musique. Both had different lives and had different painting styles.

I reckon that both artists are very interesting in their ways, But if I was an artist, I’d look up to Henri Matisse because I like all the bright colours that he used. I don’t like dull colours.

Immersion Class Rotation Part 2

On Friday, we went to Mr Slade in Room 19. We learnt about Claude Monet. He was born on 14 November 1840. He used natural colours including red, yellow, blue, black and white. With those colours, I drew the Vodafone Warriors team logo and a beautiful sunset sinking into the water on the beach. Room 19 was a cool class but not my best. I wonder what Mrs Squires has in store for us on Monday?

Our final rotation class was in Room 20 with Mrs Squires. We learnt about Daniella Hulme. She draws people in tropical places, e.g beach, fruit and many more places. Even though she paints people from the islands, she is European. Daniella normally paints girls with the same hair. She was weird. This class was my least favorite class. I only liked the painting part.

Our class rotations were pretty cool. Others boring. But I still had fun doing art. This is how I rate the classes. 5th Room 20 (Daniella Hulme), 4th Room 22 (Vincent Van Gogh), 3rd Room 21 (Henri Matisse), 2nd Room 19 (Claude Monet) and #1!! Room 18. (PABLO PICASSO!!!) It was FUN!

Immersion Class Rotation Part 1

ART, ART, ART, ART, ART!! I love art, don’t you? I wish I could do art all day if I could. Amazingly, my wish came true. Over the week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, after morning tea, all the classes in my Intermediate block went to different classes to learn about different techniques and learn more about famous artists.

For my first immersion class I stayed in Room 21. We learnt about Henri Matisse and how he paints. Henri Matisse is a French man who was born in Le Cateau-Cambresis, Nord, France 1954. He is an artist that likes to use different varieties of colours and patterns. The first thing we had to do was to sketch. I tried to do Matisse’s technique which was Fauvism. In French, it means Wild Beast. I gave it a try.  I didn’t really succeed but it was still good. We didn’t paint our art, we only coloured it in with pastels. But it still looked good at the end.

On Tuesday, we went to Room 22 to learn about Vincent Van Gogh. Vincent Van Gogh was born on 30th of March 1853-29th July 1890. When he was young he had bright ideas, and as he got older, he got a bit coo-coo. Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear then sent it to his girlfriend. He wasn’t really famous when he was alive because he only sold one painting for a grand. However, when he was dead his paintings became famous and way more expensive. His sister (Johanna Gezina van Gogh-Bonger) told people that his paintings are cool as. She convinced them until they brought some. Unfortunately he became famous when he was dead. Our painting that we had to create was in the style of one of his paintings. I looked at his picture very very carefully. My sketch was fantastic but then the paint just ruined it. It wasn’t my best class as well.

My Favourite Holiday Programme, Youth Pride.

The holidays. Yeah. I was so happy that it was the holidays because I wanted to go to my favourite holiday programme. YOUTH PRIDE!! Every year some people from South Auckland put on a holiday programme for kids all age. Their names are Mike, Margaret, Billy, and Lee Johns from the Tamaki Recreation Centre. Along side with these people. TJ, Foul and Marina. All of these people put on a holiday programme for kids to enjoy. They provide free food. A sausage sizzle and fish (only some days we have fish. On the last day of every year, we have a HUGE shared lunch. I love Youth Pride.

I go to the holiday programme every year. I see heaps of my friends from school but also my friends from different schools. We play heaps of games including Basketball, Volleyball, Dodge ball, Touch and every year, 3-2-1 Fun comes and lets us play in a boxing ring with these Massive gloves. I just can't imagine a world with-out Youth Pride.

"Mum, I'm going to Youth Pride." As I woke up this morning I just remembered that youth pride was on. I ran out the door all the way to the Tamaki Recreation Centre where it was held. Once I got there no-one was there. I started to get worried that no one was going to show up, but then I saw Mike turn up in his car. I was so HAPPY! Every ten minutes more and more people turned up to youth pride. Once it started we introduced our self to the whole group.

The first game we played was basketball. We got into groups of 4 and got under way. My team lost our first game. But after every mistake, you make up for it. We won our second, third and fourth games. Unfortunately, not winning our fifth. At-least we won 3 out of five. I was happy with my team.

After a few more games, we went out to have lunch. I wasen't really hungry, I just wanted to play games. So I only had 1 sausage and went back inside the gym. I had to wait for everyone else to finish so I just played around the world with my friend Raenan. Once every one else came in, it was home time. I didn't even notice time had flew. But you know what they say. Time flies when you have fun.

Finally it was home time. I was so so sad. I wish it could go all day, and all night. But I just couldn't wait for the next day.

Swimmarama

The final day at camp Respect 2012 had finally come. The year 7 and 8's went to the Lagoon in Panmure. The only thing I was looking forward to was the bombing pool. I just love bombing. Staples, V-Bombs and Gorilla. I love doing bombs.

I was on the diving board, and I jumped off. I was doing a v-bomb. I didn't really succeed because I didn't curve my body enough so I just done staples for the rest of the day.

CAMP CONCERT!!!

This is the time where all our dance practice came to use. THE CAMP CONCERT!!! For our fantastic performance, my team,Team Respect, was dancing to the jum jam song ‘Superstar’.

The boys were acting like girls and pretending to walk down a catwalk. We had to do our best girly poses. We had practiced and practiced for ages and ages. Finally we got it right on the night. We had to get a few tips off the real girls though. Three girls sung a lullaby and the other girls performed a dance.

There we were, sitting on the ground at the beginning of the night. Guess what? OUR TEAM WENT FIRST!!!! I was like yeah! I said that so that we could just get it out of the way. I was excited and nervous at the same time. But my leader just said “we can do it”.

The girls item was first. The lullaby was up first then the girls dance. After those I said, “here we go”. The leader was first to go out and I was first. Boy after boy. We just wouldn’t stop posing. I thought we were actual girls. But we weren’t.

At the end of the night the judges added up their scores. In 6th place was my brothers team (Kayde) The Respect Squad. 5th was the Respectablez. 4th place my team, Team Respect!! 3rd  were the Respectorz. Second place was The Respectronics. FIRST PLACE.......... The RESPECT CREW.

Even though I came 4th I still was happy because I beat my older brother. So that was cool. I can’t wait till next year.

Final Day At Camp 2012.

WHOA!!!!!! There we were at The Lagoon in Panmure when THE VODAFONE WARRIORS walk right through the doors. I was so stocked that they came. I know when you go to the games and you see them, but this was different. You got to see them up close. While they were swimming around, we were chanting Warriors, Warriors, Warriors. It was so COOL.

I didn’t want to get in the pool because it was too cold. But I really wanted to meet the Warriors. So then I just took off my shirt then jumped in the pool. Even though I was freezing cold, I was still stocked to meet them.

Once they got out of the pool, we started to do the haka for them. After we finished the haka, the halfback Shaun Johnson and winger Manu Vatuvei started to crack up laughing. So after the Warriors left, I jumped straight out of the pool. Freezing cold I quickly done star jumps to get warm. But since it was a hot day, I was dried in about ten minutes.

I was so stocked to see the Warriors on the final day of camp. It was so COOL!!!!

First Day Of Camp 2012

YEAH!!! Camp. I couldn’t wait for this day to come. I just love school camp. My teams name is Team Respect. Our leaders are Seini Mino and Cruz.

There’s sleeping out side. That’s my favorite thing to do at camp. I never get to do that at my house. There is cooking eggs like your in the wild. Because I always cook mine in a pan. But we are only stating camp.

We also played Captains Ship, Stomp the balloon and my favorite, the egg toss. My partner was Cruz. We went as far as ten metres. But that wasn’t a good sign for me. He chucked it hard as. Then....... CRACK!!! The egg splattered on my hand then I tasted some raw egg it my mouth. It was revolting. I almost vomited right next to my shoe. That’s how bad it was. I just washed it off.

“Captains Ship” Mr Harris yelled. After the egg toss we played the good old game, Captains Ship. It was down to me and Cruz. Mr Harris yelled out “Starboard”! I was so surprised to be the last person. Then he said, “Welcome to the crew meharty”. So I said “Thank You”. And that was the end of those games.

Even though it has only been the first day, It has been heaps of fun. I CAN”T WAIT FOR DAY 2!!!

Netball Coaching

NOOOOO!!!!! When I found out that Room 21 was going to have netball training with Liz I was so angry. I mean boys don’t play netball. Only girls do. I’d rather play Rugby League or Cricket. Those are real boy games. But I have to go with the flow.

The first thing we learnt was chest passing the ball. To do this, you have to hold the ball at your chest then push it real hard. This is the easiest pass to do in netball, and it is the easiest pass to get the ball to your teammate.

The next thing we learnt was how to jump. So Liz put down some hurdles and made the person opposite us, chest pass the ball while we jumped over the hurdle and caught the ball. Once we caught the ball, we had to do a pivot and chest passed it to the person behind us.

After hurdles, we played a game. It was like netball, but you don’t shoot the ball in the hoop. You had to shoot it on a dot in the corner of the court. But there was a bit of a problem. The dot was inside a diamond. Doesn’t sound hard right? Wrong! You weren't allowed to step in the diamond. At the end of the game, my team won 6 points to 4. I scored two points.

I really like netball now even though I’m a boy. Now I just can’t wait for every netball coaching every Thursday. I CANT WAIT!!!

My Holidays In RotoVegas

In the holidays, I went to my home town in Rotorua. It’s my home town because all my family lives down there and I was born there. I call it, Rotovegas.

In Rotorua, I went to a beach called Pukehina. Their mussels are big as. So we went diving and then found some mussels and pipis to take home with us. When I got home, I cooked them on the barbecue, with the help of my dad.

The next day, we went to Querty falls to jump off the jetty. It was 6 meters deep. My sister was scared because there was a lot of trout, eel, and other fish in the lake. But I wasn’t scared I just jumped.

It was the end of the holidays and back to school for me. But at least I had fun in the holidays.
